Fifties Art & Design specialises in affordable mid-century art, and stocks a range of original pictures, prints and posters. It has a particularly strong selection of architectural works, with a focus on the work of John Piper. Established by Dr Richard Turkington FRSA in 2014, Richard’s interest in the era was born several years ago and stemmed from his own purchase of a painting dated to 1959 with the uncompromising title, ‘Railway Sidings, Bradford’. His gallery aims to celebrate the variety, versatility and distinctiveness of mid-century art and design, offering an attractive range of artworks at accessible prices. Tracing the origins and evolution of fifties art and design, the collection extends back to the thirties and forward to the seventies.
