Emma Mason

Bernard Cheese, The Lemon Seller, 11/25 lithograph, 1960

Established in 2004, Emma Mason specialises in work by artists working in Britain from the 1950s onwards, with a particular emphasis on printmaking. The gallery is situated in Eastbourne, in East Sussex, and is run by Emma and Richard Mason. Here they hold regular exhibitions of printmakers’ works, and have written several publications relating to their artists. Past clients include The National Theatre, Towner Gallery, The House of Commons and Pallant House Gallery.

The inspiration for the gallery came from Emma’s friendship with the printmaker Robert Tavener, whom she met soon after relocating from London to Eastbourne. Both Richard and Emma have long been interested in art from both a practical and academic standpoint, as Emma studied History of Art & Italian at Leicester University, whilst Richard studied Fine Art & English at Lancaster University, and prior to joining the gallery taught art and design.
